Privacy Policy

NoBugPet ("the app", "we") is a tool that helps you detect and log ticks on your pets. We designed it to be privacy-first: your pet data stays on your device. This policy explains what we process and why.

1. Data stored only on your device

  • Pet profiles (name, breed, age, coat, photo) and scan history / findings are stored locally on your device using Apple's on-device storage. They are not uploaded to our servers.
  • Account credentials. If you register with email, your email and a salted hash of your password are stored locally on your device. If you use Sign in with Apple, we store only the anonymous user identifier Apple provides. We do not transmit these to our own servers.

2. Data processed to provide AI verification

When you choose to analyze a suspicious spot, the app sends the cropped photo of that spot (and optionally the breed/coat you entered) to our processing service to return a tick assessment. The image is processed transiently to generate the result, is not linked to your identity, is not used for advertising, and is not sold. Image analysis is performed via our AI provider (Anthropic). We do not use your images to train models.

3. Usage analytics

To understand how the app is used and to improve it, we record in-app usage events tied to a pseudonymous account identifier — for example app opens, scans started, AI checks (with the result and confidence) and subscription purchases — together with your app version and device locale. These events are stored in our backend on Google Firebase (Cloud Firestore). They are used only for product analytics and to operate the service; they are not used for advertising, are not sold, and are not used to track you across other apps or websites (we do not use the advertising identifier / IDFA).

4. What we do NOT do

  • No advertising and no ad networks.
  • No cross-app or cross-site tracking; no advertising identifier (IDFA).
  • No selling or sharing of personal data with data brokers.

5. Subscriptions

Purchases are processed by Apple through your App Store account. We never receive your payment details. Apple provides us only with anonymous subscription status so the app can unlock features.

6. Third parties

We rely on: Apple (App Store distribution, subscriptions, Sign in with Apple), Anthropic (AI image analysis), and Google Firebase / Cloud Firestore (storage of usage events). We do not use advertising networks or data brokers.

7. Notifications

With your permission, the app schedules local reminders (daily check, protection expiry) on your device. These are generated locally and are not sent through our servers.

8. Your choices & data deletion

You can delete your account and all associated pet data at any time in the app: My pets → Delete account. Uninstalling the app also removes all locally stored data. To request deletion of the pseudonymous usage events stored in our backend, contact us at support@nobugpet.com and we will remove them.

9. Children

NoBugPet is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from them.

10. Changes

We may update this policy; material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above.
